CPY 538 - Multicultural and Social Justice Counseling Credit(s): 3 This course is designed to address the social and political context of counseling individuals, families, and groups with diverse identities and social locations. Other areas of investigation include the intersections of race, ethnicity, class, gender and gender identify, sexual orientation, age, physical ability, and the impact of oppression. Intercultural communication patterns and multicultural counseling theory and practice are emphasized, along with the role of the counselor as an advocate, ally, and agent of social change. Prerequisite(s): CPY 525 or permission.
