EDU 587 - Child Development Credit(s): 3 Focuses on the physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and creative development of the individual from birth through adolescence. The course strives for a balance between developmental theory and practice. Theoretical positions include Normative-Maturation (Gesell), Behaviorist Environmental (Skinner), Psychodynamic (Freud and Erikson), Cognitive-Transactional (Piaget), and Humanism. Practical application with children in a variety of settings including home, school, and agency is stressed.
