ARH 221 - Gender and Sex, Renaissance Art Examines ideal masculinity and femininity, male and female nudes, homoeroticism, marriage, childbearing, and courtesans. Students will gain a complex understanding of the history of gender and sexual identities in western culture and how they were influenced by both the Catholic church and contemporary readings of ancient Greek and Roman philosophers. Prereq(s): One ARH course or instructor consent.
