ECO 551 - Macroeconomics and the Global Economy


Technology, innovation, trade, and globalization are reshaping the world economy. Financial capital moves from one country to another at dazzling speeds. Firms and people are exposed to enormous amounts of data and information and are required to process this quickly and efficiently in order to create value in their businesses. This course aims at increasing productivity of senior leaders by critically examining national and global economic activity, facilitating the understanding of major economic events. Key topics include economic growth, inflation, productivity, interest rates, exchange rates, and economic policy. Students will develop the ability to analyze national and international economic data, enhance their understanding of major economic events, and make informed decisions about future economic directions. This acquired knowledge enables students to create value at the firm level and contribute positively to a globally interconnected society.
