FIN 551 - Financial Management for Value Creation Factors such as evolving investment trends, increasing focus on corporate social responsibility, and globalization are affecting how organizations are investing their capital. With these variables in mind, this course emphasizes the value creation objective of financial management. The course focuses on two major types of corporate decisions faced by managers: investing and financing decisions, that is, how managers should make investment decisions that create value and how these investments should be financed. Using an analytical framework for the underlying process of value creation, this course provides a rigorous understanding of risk and return and optimal portfolio selection, bond and stock valuation, cost of capital analysis, corporate capital budgeting and cash flow estimation, risk analysis, socially responsible finance practices, and capital structure.
